NGC Press Release

The Youth Arm of the National Garifuna Council (NGC) celebrated its 7th annual convention at the Stella Maris Compound in Belize City over the weekend of July 15-17, 2005. The 76 delegates in attendance were from Punta Gorda, Seine Bight, George Town, Hopkins, Dangriga, Belmopan, Belize City, Orange Walk and San Pedro.  Following the Opening Ceremony on Friday, a cultural evening was held at the UWI School of Continuing Studies. Other sessions included presentations on spiritually, Career Development, HIV/Aids, Dating and Institutional strengthening to name but a few. A dance was held on Saturday night and the event culminated with a business meeting on Sunday where the new National Executive of the NGC Youth Arm was nominated for a two-year term of office. The new officers are President - Orlando Lucas, Vice President ? Alva McDonald, Secretary ? Roselin Morris, Assistant Secretary ? Sophanie Castillo, Treasurer ? Kenesha Williams, Assistant Treasurer ? James Flores, Public Relations Officer ? Sharon Ramclam, Assistant PR ? Rahleel Elijio.  The next NGC youth arm convention will take place in Seine Bight village in July, 2006.
