The Garifuna community in Belmopan is relatively new. Well educated Garinagu come here to find employment as teachers, nurses and civil servants in the nation?s capital. Because there is no distinct Garifuna neighborhood, Belmopan is not considered a Garifuna tourist destination. This may change in the future though, as the local NGC branch has plans of establishing a cultural center.
